CAMERATA SOSPIRO
A Vocal Chamber Music Ensemble
This unique ensemble features chamber music written and arranged for vocals, cello and piano.

Our Story
Founded back in 2010, this ensemble has gone through several iterations but the love and commitment to reviving and performing the Art Song repertoire has remained strong. Camerata Sospiro performs the popular works by great composers like Brahms and Dvorak but also makes a concerted effort to give voice to artists that have been long overlooked like Amy Beach and Pauline Viardot. What makes this ensemble so special is the breadth and diversity of their repertoire, reaching back into the Baroque and premiering modern works, all in the same evening. Add to that their original arrangements and you’re guaranteed an eclectic night of beautiful music played by critically acclaimed musicians and musical scholars.
Meet the Artists
"An extravagantly rich performance given by a trio of top-tier Bay Area musicians. Ms. Rosengaus is a mezzo-soprano with a voice that is full and rich but not overly darkened, with an impressive range of dynamics, flexibility and a gorgeous chiaroscuro. She inhabited each song with instinctive musicality, humanity, textual understanding and technical prowess. Mr. Jaffe also impressed immediately, spinning sensually soulful melodies on his cello with a deep and smoky tone, making his instrument speak as well as sing. Mr. Scarfe's superlative pianism commanded and anchored the program with a wellspring of stylistic knowledge, close attention to detail and powerfully definitive playing."
